COMSOL Examples

COMSOL is a multiphysics simulation software with application areas in electrical, mechanical, fluids, acoustics and chemical. COMSOL Multiphysics is a simulation platform that encompasses all of the steps in the modeling workflow — from defining geometries, material properties, and the physics that describe specific phenomena to solving and postprocessing models for producing accurate and trustworthy results. COMSOL uses numerical schemes like finite element method, boundary element method, damped Newton method, direct and iterative solvers to provide accurate solutions.

Rescale's platform can be used to conviniently run COMSOL simulations across many cores to reduce compute time drasticallly. It provides additional functionality like easy connection to COMSOL Mulitphysics Server.

Kármán Vortex Street Example

An unsteady simulation of flow past a cylinder using the COMSOL Multiphysics CFD module. The Reynolds number based on the cylinder diameter is 100 and is low enough for a Kármán Vortex Street to form. This model and documentation is available directly from COMSOL.
