With Rescale's Flexible Budgets, you can maintain control of your budget and spending. The way Budgets work is to monitor all types of cost (i.e. hardware, software, data transfer, storage, license proxy) and ensure it is not exceeded. Budgets can be set at the individual user, project, and/or company level. You will need to be a company administrator to have top level access of Budgets.
In the Team Management tab, you can set budgets at the project and individual user level
In the Cost Management tab, you can set budgets at the company level.
If Strict Budget is set to ON, when the budget is exceeded, actively running jobs or clusters will be immediately terminated. Additional jobs that are submitted will be queued, until the budget can support additional jobs.
If Strict Budget is set to OFF, when the budget is exceeded, actively running jobs or clusters will run to completion. Additional jobs that are submitted will be queued, until the budget can support additional jobs.
Budget Type: One-Time vs. Periodic
By setting a start and end date, One-Time budgets allow for a fixed range of dates. With the above settings, the budget will expire 4 months from the start date. If the end date is set to --, then the budget will stay in effect indefinitely. If the start date is set to --, then budget calculations will factor in all charges since the beginning of the creation of the account.
Budgets can be set with periods of Monthly, Quarterly, and Annually.
For example with the settings below, a Monthly budget is set for 3 months -- there will be $20,000.00 limit for each month, for three months.
If -- is selected for the end date, then the budget amount is allotted for every month, continuing indefinitely.
The below will set a budget of $100,000.00 limit spanning three quarters.
If -- is selected for the end date, then a budget of $100,000.00 is available for each quarter, continuing indefinitely.
The below settings will set a budget of $300,000.00 for use over 2 years.
If -- is selected for the end date, then a budget of $300,000.00 is available for each year, continuing indefinitely.
